Root Cause Analysis

Generally speaking, the root cause analysis investigates the root cause of a failure. A root cause analysis is much more extensive than a failure analysis and can also determine the root cause of electrical overstress. Root cause analyses comprise in particular:

  1. the investigation of the circumstances of a failure („anamnesis“)
  2. the failure analysis
  3. the categorization of the failure
  4. the characterization of the failure location
  5. the identification of the failure mechanism
  6. the identification of the root cause
